Captain’s welcome

Church Stretton Golf Club is truly a magical place to me.

It presents us with a unique golfing challenge and what we lack in yardage we can certainly make up for with undulation (buggies really help to flatten out the walks though!). This year we celebrate our 125th anniversary and if you pay us a visit you will see why this course on the top of a hill really has stood the test of time! As a club we are really looking forward to lots of celebration opportunities this year.

I arrived in Shropshire in 2005 fresh faced and new to the area and Church Stretton Golf Club has played a huge part in my enjoyment of my time here. From playing the course in the fantastic conditions in the summer and being challenged by the bracken, to battling the elements on a crisp winter’s day, the course really offers a great challenge that differs from day to day, sometimes hour to hour.

After the golf, the atmosphere in the clubhouse typifies what our club is all about and whether the golf was good, or not, it is a great place for us to come together for either celebration or commiseration. I look forward to seeing many of you there across the year.

As I mentioned, 2023 is a big year for us. We look forward to celebrating with friends, old and new, and look forward to many more successful years up on the Mynd.
